You can, but Coast also does walk-ins so you can do either
I would not go formal there. Business casual or hip-nice would be fitting.
No, it's two ways.
No.
They're not required but depending on the time and day it could be a good idea
I don't think they will turn you away, but it's a nice place. Pants world be good
Casual, but being a bit more of an upscale restaurant you will see lots of people in business attire.
It’s definitely not inexpensive but not so expensive as well
Great selection of happy hour menu. Every dish we ordered were good. Highly recommended
Came here with a friend this place was good. We ordered oysters, these were fantastic. Also ordered several items from their anniversary menu. All were tasty. I took points off for my salad coming on a dirty dish... Otherwise the staff was prompt and friendly.
I come here for the lunch specials which are an unbelievable deal for a restaurant of this quality, customer service and stature. I'm always impressed by the consistent quality of the food, the ability to have a proper conversation with my dining partner as well as the perfect balance by the staff to make me feel like I'm well cared for without being overly fussy or passing by the table too often. I can always eat, have a very civilized lunch and be out of here in well under 45 minutes if need be. While reservations are recommended, you can usually catch a table if there are just two of you.
Stopped in for a quick bite to eat and a glass of wine. Service was amazing! Crab dip changed from previous visits(too much red pepper) but some people may still enjoy it!! Love coming to this place when in the City
Just ordered the sushi kit from the take away menu. Definitely think they should include more rice to make 2 rolls and 3 cones.
Quality of the food did not match the price. Grilled Salmon was over cooked, tasteless and did not seem fresh. Sushi was worse than my local cheaper sushi shop. Wouldn't recommend. Dessert however was excellent as was the service.
Excellent service and delicious food.
Amazing food, amazing service. They weren't pushy about asking "how is your food" while having a mouthful. Servers were respectful and well informed about the menu. Despite being a little pricier, there is also lower priced menu items but the price is sell worth the whole experience. Would reccomend to anyone and we plan on returning soon!
Very good meal and service. Had a table for 12 and they really took care of us well. All dishes were super fresh and well prepared. Will highly recommend.
Last evening was the first time visiting Coast. The food was really good and was served quite quickly as the waiter realized that my son and I both looked really hungry. But I want particularly to recommend the excellent service provided by the waiter, #000157. This was the best serviced I have had in a very long time. I look forward to visiting Coast again in the future. All the best to waiter #000157. I can not say enough good things about him, his manner, his service, and his attention to his guests.
Not the first time I've been here and it won't be the last. Great food and even better service!
We had a great time at Coast for Valentine’s day. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was amazing too, we shared the seafood risotto. Highly recommend!
8/12 oysters had shells in it.*Im very impressed with the restaurants design and layout. *I'm very impressed how many little bits of shell the shucking professional would leave in my oyster. Leaving the water left on the oysters looking almost murky. (Oysters them selves aren't pretty looking sea creatures but when they aren't presented properly over a clean tray of ice they tend to turn me off.
The tempura mushroom during happy hour is a Must-Try! Incredible umami. Service was efficient as well. I had a very salty seafood chowder, but the server took it back to the kitchen immediately. I was given a better bowl and the server made sure to check how I liked it. Glad I didn't have to wrestle anybody to get a decent chowder.
The food was good, We ordered Coast feature salmon dish, Chirasi don and A dozen of oysters with wine. But the server was horrible. He doesn't know what he is doing there. I was asking about oysters because it was very different that I usually have. He had no idea, definitely not qualified. I'm expecting better service when I pay over $100 for a meal. Totally over rated.
Food was great, we came for dineout dinner, menu not too many choices just either or....Tables were set too close together, server has no space to serve properly...he put dishes across on the table and not from our side.... Especially when we pay our tabs we're threw back to us and we did not hear a " thank you" from him. Plates not warm making the food Luke warm.... Soup not hot enough... Steak tasted good, dessert was delicious....
Delicious sushi and friendly staff.
You have to try this place for happy hour. Great wine, drinks and appiesthat aren't your typical run-of-the-mill wings and calamari. A more creative menu and awesome atmosphere. Love the buck a shuck for oysters.
Amazing service here. Sat at the bar on a very busy Wednesday evening and was never in want of a drink or food. Seafood tower was a splurge but well worth it. Very fresh and if you’re sitting at the bar you can watch them prepare the oysters right in front of you.
Always a great time, good food and great service.
NICE place to take a fresh oyster. Spend a lovely time to chat with friends. Good food, staff is helpful and friendly
Best Happy Hour in town! Came in for some oysters and appetizers with my husband last weekend. The calamari was so tender, and the oysters were very fresh, such a great deal for $1. Our server Nikki took great care of us and had excellent recommendations from the menu. We didn't feel rushed and were able to enjoy an afternoon together out of the rain. We had some sushi from the regular menu which did not disappoint. Can't wait to come back to try more items from the menu.
One of my favourite spots to go for happy hour in the city! Lots to choose from and perfect for sharing.
Come here for weekend brunch handful of times, but swear will never come back again!! Instead of having hostesses that greet upon arrival, the first thing that is said is to leave the baby stroller in the front. Very odd negative vibe and definitely not welcoming at all. Worst yet, this is every single time we visit. What's the deal!?? There is plenty of room inside. Never experienced this at other restaurants
Inspite of its size, it's nice and cozy. I ordered the grilled scallops and tiger prawns while my son had sable fish. Would have given it 4☆ if not for a slightly undercooked fish.
Excellent service from the moment you walked in. Everyone greets you with a smile and welcomes you to their house. This one of my favorites restaurants in Vancouver. The food tastes amazing and the service is even better. Limited promotion dinner are always a great value. Can't find any bad things about this restaurant. Valet parking is well worth it too.
Definitely would have given five stars but I saw a picture of the seared scallops and tiger prawns from another reviewer here and the scallops were much much larger than mine that I ate last night. I wish I had been served a bigger portion like the other reviewer. The meal itself was 9/10 delicious but having undersized scallops made me sad because they were delicious. Other than that I very much enjoyed my meal.
The food is so good! The happy hour is definitely worth going to. The prices are super reasonable and everything is so tasty! The patio is large and heated with firepits and overhead heat lamps... You can even go in the winter and be comfortable. Must go!
Went there last night and was impressed with the food and portions! I had the lobster tail and mac & cheese and it was not only delicious, but also the portion size was huge. Also had the calamari as an appetizer and usually I don't like calamari (girlfriend wanted it) but this one was amazing as well and super tender. Very impressed with the service from our server Brad and we felt well taken care of. Definitely will be back in the future.
The salmon dish is really really good. There is noting I can be say it bad for the dish. However, consider the price we pay for, the quality of the food did not meet my expectation. For this restaurant, I recommend the Maple Chinook Salmon and the Brussels Sprouts.
Oysters are fresh, good happy hour and lunch deals. Service is generally good, but gets a bit spotty when busy and they might leave you unattended for a while, but overall very professional usually.
It was amazing. Took my wife on a date there. The sushi chef sent us a taster of the fish and chips cone! Unbelievable!! Loved it, so we had to order it. We ordered the hot seafood platter. It was perfect! We are the whole thing between the two of us and it was plenty. Service was great! Cocktails were excellent. You have to go there!
Really great happy hour deals!!! Mussels with white wine cream sauce were amazing. Bread is very crunchy and like a crouton, but too hard to eat cause it's so big and hard. Long, thinner pieces or a less toasted bread would be better! Fish and prawn tacos were delicious!
Coast restaurant used to be amazing... 10 years ago. Now it's overpriced and worn.Reply to owner’s response.... We were there this time last year (Google just reminded me to leave a review). The first time I went to Coast, in 2010, it was full of energy, it was clean, welcoming, friendly, and high quality. The past two times I have been to Coast it has been expensive for the quality, and felt rushed by the servers.
Coast was fabulous! Shared the Seafood tower and sushi platter. Also ordered jasmine rice, blackened brussel sprouts , crab dip and smoked salmon flatbread.
The seafood was excellent. We had the seafood tower with 5 and it was a great appetizer. Oddly the Dungeness crab was a bit off, but the rest of the seafood was excellent. The mains were also well prepared. They even made a hamburger for our picky non-fish loving daughter.
All the staff wore masks, and the tables were mostly good social distance apart. We did have to get quite close to people sitting at the bar to leave though. The calamari appetizer was tender and flavourful. The breading was fairly light and didn't overwhelm the taste. The sable fish was delicious; it was my first time trying that type of fish. It would be nice if they got the Ocean Wise designation. The cioppino was good and full of seafood.
Coast sources much of their produce from local organic farms. Their service is amazing! The ambiance is relaxing. Oh, you must try their sable fish.
Amazing service here. Sat at the bar on a very busy Wednesday evening and was never in want of a drink or food. Seafood tower was a splurge but well worth it. Very fresh The food was amazing too, we shared the seafood risotto. Highly recommend!
Lovely restaurant with great staff and tremendous food. For top notch food you'll pay the premium but it's definitely worth to treat yourself here once in a while
Celebrated my sister's baby shower. The server was very friendly and well informed on the special features and menu. Food tasted great and we all had a great time. Thank you 😊
All the food we ordered tasted great. Everyone was happy with their meals.Realize this is a seafood restaurant but the menu was a bit light on the vegetarian and vegan alternatives if that is important to you.
Horrible experience. Waited over an hour for our meal. Go back to Fortes Frenchie.
Excellent weekend brunch from 11-3 PM. Buck a shuck oysters, and 10.45 eggs Benedict specials. Staff treats you like royalty and creates an ambiance with great food and service. Will definitely be returning in the future
I was excited to place an order tonight and support a local business but left thoroughly disappointed. We ordered the sushi platter for two and when we brought it home it was missing the tiger prawn nigiri. As we started to eat the sockeye salmon nigiri had a HUGE black hair on the under side of the piece. I was not at all impressed. To make the experience worse, I ordered two Four Winds 3 but instead was given two 33 Acres Pale Ale. If Coast didn't have the beer I wanted they should tell you and not supplement it with something else. Horrible experience tonight ☹️
Only a couple days in town this was the culinary highlight
Great food. Definitely recommend the creme brulee and chocolate cake.
great seafood, great service. usually great to accommodate you last minute. something amazing happened for us here ;)
Has a lot of option for seafood. They have lunch specials at a good price and quality. This is the 2nd one I have tried. Fish and chips had decent portion of cod. Beer batter was nice and flaky. Fries were good too. I would recommend trying their menu.
I am usually not much of a seafood type of guy, but I was invited here by some co-workers and decided to show up for once. Truth be told, If i were to start eating seafood more consistently, it would be at Coast. From top to bottom they are great - service, food, cleanliness, and everything in between. Great oysters!
